Refugee Week
Each year, we take part in Refugee Week — a UK-wide celebration of the contributions, creativity, and resilience of people seeking sanctuary. We work with local artists in the development of and arts led program to celebrate Refugee Week. We produce an inclusive public arts programme and build on the creative relationships we have developed across our community over the past few years, ensuring Refugee Week becomes an anticipated annual celebration, promoting a culture of welcome.
Refugee Week 2025
Refugee Week 2025 will see a vibrant mix of music, food, conversation and creativity, all celebrating the resilience and contribution of people seeking sanctuary. From a week-long falafel and tabouleh collaboration with Goat Ledge to an evening of Chilean folk song at Cumbia Kitchen, this year’s programme spans the whole town. Join us for poetry at The Printworks, supper and songs at The Crown House with Message from the Ravens, and a buzzing afternoon at Three Legs Brewery with the Flatland Young Creative Community. There’s also a powerful Stitch for Change exhibition at the De La Warr Pavilion, a pub quiz hosted by Sue Tilley at The St Leonard Pub, and a community-wide 108 Sun Salutation Challenge as just one of the many ways we’ll be raising funds for our community.

Previous funding
We’re delighted to have been twice funded by The Arts Council England. Thanks to this funding, our programme of activities is able to involve commissioning new artists and working collaboratively with new partners in Bexhill and Rye.

Get Involved!
We offer opportunities for artist, local businesses, individuals and community groups to get involved. Please do reach out if you would like to support in June next year!

If you would like to make a referral for a person or to volunteer with the Refugee Buddy Project, do get in touch with us. Please give us as much detail as possible. We are a small team but will endevour to get back to you within 5 working days.
